Our networking space, bringing you together with others who work or volunteer at a Wakefield-based VCSE organisation.

Netwalking was a breath of fresh air (in both ways) last year, so we're excited to be doing it again in June for Connecting Wakefield. Get out for a refreshing walk with colleagues from other VCSE organisations, big and small, and make some new connections.

Free and open to anyone from a community group, charity, not-for-profit, voluntary organisation or social enterprise in Wakefield District.

What to expect

The plan is to walk around Newmillerdam, giving you plenty of time to chat and meet new people in the group. You might like to work through an idea or discuss a problem - walking can really help with that.

The walk will be led by the wonderful Rachel (Lead Community Mental Health Builder and part of our Adviser Team at Nova) who can tell you a bit about Move More, the big local project about getting people active, which should have an update on by June.

The walk will start at 9.30am from Newmillerdam main car park and lasts for around 1 hour. It's a circular route around the lake. After this, we’ll head to Lakeside Creative Arts Centre for refreshments and more time to network. We'll be using the room upstairs.

What you’ll need

  • Clothing appropriate for the British weather
  • Water
  • Sturdy / comfortable footwear

More information

  • Connecting Wakefield is a friendly space and attendees vary, so newcomers are very welcome. The aim of the network is to aid communication and collaboration across the VCSE sector, so we can better serve each other and our communities.
  • There is a pay and display car park, information and rates can be found on the Council's website. You may want to car share with colleagues.

Please contact the Nova Team at info@nova-wd.org.uk or 01924 367418 if there are adjustments we can make to the walk or session to make it accessible to you, or you have any questions.
